Jeremy Cole ‘Flax’ 950mm Dia. – Brand New, Crated & Never Hung.

Celebrated in Vogue, Elle Decor, The New York Times and Wallpaper*, world-renowned master artisan Jeremy Cole has pushed the boundaries of ceramics since 2005. His simple and elegant aesthetic has won him praise from discerning clients, including commissions for Harry Winston (globally), Franck Muller, Bulgari, Cadillac, Four Seasons Resorts, Neiman Marcus and Air New Zealand to name but a few. Embodying a philosophy that incorporates “beauty, elegance and craftsmanship,”
Cole creates each and every piece from his New Zealand based studio. His lights are produced in-house with the assistance of a small team of skilled artisans, where Cole physically handcrafts each design, and governs the entire production process. Striking a balance between art and design, he explores the boundary between flora and art. His works are found in residences and super yachts across the globe for private clients, and most notably, are housed in museum collections worldwide. Outside of Cole’s existing collections which are available to purchase, only a small number of customised private commissions are accepted annually, alongside large-scale commercial work.

This ‘Flax’ Chandelier is a brand new fixture that is still crated and has never been hung. Ready to go.

Satia ‘High-Low’ Tibetian Highland Sheeps Wool Rug – 12′ x 9′

About Satia:

Satia Art & Floor was established in 1998 in Vancouver, Canada and is operated by Bijan Koukpari. Bijan has been in the handmade carpet business since 1976, first at his father’s Persian Carpet Import company in Germany and from 1981 to 1996 in his own Carpet Import company in Frankfurt, Germany.

These years of experience are being used to innovate new products and to provide the ultimate customer satisfaction. Since 1998, Satia Art & Floor has experimented in using Mohair and Cashmere in Tibetan Carpets. By now, these royal fibers are being used routinely to produce exclusive carpets of extraordinary quality.

Satia Art & Floor is using Cashmere, Mohair, Silk and selected grades of Sheep-wool to provide the right choice for each client, and with the installation of an effective inspection system at the manufacturing facilities of the carpets any order is guaranteed to meet our exceptionally high standards.

Design values

Fibre texture and timeless design combine to create a unique and long-living rug. Our rugs are created with the Tibetan hand knotting system with Tibetan sheep wool. Selected hand washed and hand carded wool provide a color variation from dark silver to gold in the base of the hand spun yarn, so that it will generate a remarkable texture after the dye. The knotting system allows the yarn to hold itself to the structure by a knot and therefore the carpet can be washed without being dissolved. Which is very important for a long term maintenance.

Each produced carpet will be a charismatic and unique piece, although custom produced under the schematic of an industrial order form. A balanced contrast to the perfect industrially produced furniture. The texture of the carpets could also be compared to the texture of wood, in the sense that the texture of a wooden table would never be exactly the same as any other wooden table. Its beauty lies in its uniqueness.

Quality of Fibres

Tibetan sheep wool is naturally more soil resistant and more durable than other sheep wool. The sheep in Tibet have to withstand enormous temperature fluctuations during a year, which result in soft and strong fibres. If treated well, Satia carpets will easily survive the generation of its buyer.

Wool Expulsion: Due to lower twist count of the handspun yarn, the carpets shed for a period of time. Either until all loose wool fibers above the knot are off the carpet or until remaining wool fibers above the knot felt. The felting process may take up to 2 years. The wool expulsion depends on the usage of the carpet; a rule of thumb is 4 to 6 months. During this time the carpet may gain a little on luster. Wool expulsion should be removed with routine vacuuming. All remaining hairs which are going through the knot will enjoy a long stay.

Flexform ‘Groundpiece’ Sofa’s (x2)

The unrivaled bestseller of all FLEXFORM production, GROUNDPIECE has revolutionized the concept of the sofa, introducing new proportions and measurements. It is comfortably deep, particularly low, and originally deconstructed with large goosedown cushions. GROUNDPIECE has changed our way of sitting on a sofa, making it more informal, adaptable to new uses. It is based on the awareness that functions are linked to new actions and behaviors. On a sofa you can read, rest, watch TV, but also work with a computer, or even eat dinner. This is why low metal storage units covered in cowhide can be inserted in the structure, replacing part of the back or armrest to provide useful counter space. The rather passé decorum of formal seating is swept away by GROUNDPIECE, in favor of a more comfortable, relaxed sitting position. GROUNDPIECE makes a clean break with clichés. For infinite combinations, a range of components can transform it into a sofa, an ottoman, a chaise longue, a storage unit.

Series 7 Chair by Arne Jacobsen walnut finish (x 8)

The Series 7 Chair debuted in 1955 at the H55 exhibition in Sweden, and the appeal of what remains one of the most copied chairs of the modern era is its shape. The chair is ideally suited to the human body, its seatback has a comfortable “give,” and its waterfall seat edge doesn’t press into legs. Arne Jacobsen, who was instilled with a love of materials, shaped the core of Danish design identity when he accommodated three different bends in one piece of plywood, simply by narrowing the chair back. Once painstakingly made by hand, the Series 7 is now produced using automation methods borrowed from the German car industry and monitored by a team that ensures the authentic Series 7 is perfect every time. Suitable for contract use. Stacks six high. This is the authentic Series 7 Collection by Republic of Fritz Hansen. Made in Denmark.
Realized in walnut veneer. The visible wood grain makes each chair unique.

For Sale: Flos ‘Skygarden’ 1 (Medium) by Marcel Wanders (60cm Diameter) – Colour: Gold

skygarden detail

In my former house I had a fabulous antique decorated plaster ceiling. I called it my Skygarden, it always looked good even without me having green fingers or taking care of it very well. It didn’t need water or sun but would live only on the warm rays of the electrical light under it.
I loved it so much that by the time I moved houses I could not leave it. I had to find a way to take it to my new home.
I took my tools and stole it from the ceiling. This fabulous piece of history is now secretly hidden in a minimalist architectural sphere in the heart of my new home where I can enjoy it with friends.

Antonio Citterio took his diploma in architecture at Milan Polytechnic in 1972 and opened a practice that year in Lissone with Paolo Nava. From 1981 Antonio Citterio also worked as an architect and interior decorator. From 1987 until 1996 he ran a practice with his wife, Terry Dwan. In 1999 the new practice, Antonio Citterio, Patricia Viel and Partners, was launched in Milan. Minotti ‘Powell’ Sofa ***Brand NEW*** – $11,355.00 o.b.o

AVAILABLE NOW! No need to wait 3-6 months.

Powell, or the quintessential modern-day sofa as Minotti sees it: welcoming, refined and informal. A seating system with fixed and sectional seats, designed to cater to a natural desire to relax. The fine balance of proportions, sartorial craftsmanship, every detail in Powell harks back to the style that has become Minotti’s identity. The aluminum base is a detail that cannot go unnoticed also because of its extra-glossy finish in an exclusive range of colors – Sand, Celadon, Granite and Plum – thus offering out-of-the ordinary and sophisticated color combinations that match with the upholstery. The sofa appears to be slightly raised from the ground, almost suspended. Comfort is a must-have in every Minotti sofa. And in order to make Powell even more comfortable, a saddle hide head-rest has been provided, that can easily be placed near the arm and backrest and used to support the cushion, to offer the right support and maximum comfort. The head-rest is available in Mud, Chestnut, Tobacco and Black. An aluminum frame runs along the entire perimeter of the sofa, creating a sharp contrast with the softness of the seating, while also protecting the lower part of the sofa. Equally impressive are the corner frame joints in die-cast aluminum. The rigor of a technical material like aluminum is softened by the use of four color shades in extra-glossy finish – Sand, Celadon, Plum, Granite – which recur as a leitmotif in the 2012 collection. The master craftsmanship is shown to perfection in the detailing such as the sofa profile that forms a teardrop in the corner with a 45° joint. The relaxed elegance of the Powell project is expressed in its simple styling and stands out in a meticulous craftsmanship with down feather padding both for the single seating cushion and for the backrest cushions, which makes for a very comfortable sofa. The precision of the profile that runs along the upper side of the sofa base and the sleek aluminum frame define its design and highlight its lightness.

Frame: one-piece multi plywood with elastic straps with a high rubber content.
Frame preparation: let into high-density polyurethane foam in different densities. Back and arm padding in thermo-sensitive polyurethane. An additional cover for the frame in a thick thermo-bonded fiber coupled with a white cotton fabric.

avarteProfessor Kukkapuro has been the company’s principal designer from the very beginning. His designs reflect an awareness of space and its function, be it the space of classical or modern buildings. Furniture has been designed by making it complement the architecture of the building, by making it assimilate with the space without dominating it. Avarte and Kukkapuro often work in close co-operation with architects. Even though many products have originally been designed, tested and manufactured for a certain environment, many of them have proven appropriate for other corresponding projects. This may result from the universality of the products and the fact that they seldom point to any specific style or era. Some products have also been manufactured in different versions suitable for many public facilities. Kukkapuro studied under Ilmari Tapiovaara and Olli Borg who taught him the practical meaning of functionalism, and young Kukkapuro greatly respected their wisdom and philosophy. Later he became the principal and professor of the University of Industrial Arts, and in his teaching he continued and expressed his functional thinking. His form language is based on a simple, clear and often imposing functionality which takes into account materials and their natural formal aspects as well. The outcomes of the design work are perfect wholes precisely because functionality in all its manifestations is their core. This is appropriate for Kukkapuro who wishes to avoid excessive personification and who does not want to present hyperbolic views about design, either.

For Sale: Heath Ceramics ‘Sand’ on ‘Sand’ – Coupe Style

Edith Heath (1911–2005) founded Heath Ceramics in 1948 after her solo pottery show at San Francisco’s Legion of Honor. She was a talented ceramicist with a great respect for craft and material, and a strong point of view on the product that her company would make — simple, good things for good people.

Edith’s passion for ceramics led to advances in clay and glaze development, which secured Heath its unique place in ceramics history. Her pieces were designed to enjoy a single kiln firing, at a lower than normal temperature, thus saving energy, while remarkably producing a durable and non-porous product. This Great Depression mentality motivated her to design and produced long-lasting products with integrity, in a responsible manner.

Today, over sixty years later, Heath Ceramics is considered among the most enduring examples of mid-century design. Found in restaurants, homes and museums worldwide, our name is synonymous with simple, functional and thoughtfully designed tableware and tile. As well, many of Edith’s original pieces live in the permanent collections of museums such as the MOMA and LACMA.

Heath Ceramics iconic tableware and tile are still made in small runs on the premises of our Sausalito, California factory, just as they have been since 1948. They employ fifty craftspeople to produce high quality, durable pieces that blur the line between everyday objects and family heirlooms.

Their ceramics continue to be — and will always be — made beautifully, thoughtfully, and locally.

‘Arco’ Lamp by Flos – Designer Achille Castiglioni in collaboration with Pier Giacomo Castiglioni

Arco lamp by Achille Castiglioni and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for Flos : functional elegance sums up this fantastic floor lamp designed by Achille Castiglioni for Flos in 1962.  The Arco lamp is a superbly executed work of art which duals as a stylish modern floor lamp; it features our favorite material by far; Italian Carrara marble. Carrara is a town in the Italian Alps where the quarries are located which produce this fantastic marble. The marble (Michelangelo’s favorite) from this area has been used in Italy since Roman times. Every time we see a Flos lamp in person, its quality and design features leave us astounded – a big word, but the only right word – to describe these fantastic modern lamps. The Arco lamp was designed byAchille Castiglioni and Pier Giacomo Castiglionii for Flos in 1962.  The Arco lamp is a floor lamp which provides direct light and satisfies the request of direct illumination without the need to fix it to the ceiling. Most rooms have the electrical output for a ceiling lamp right in the middle of the ceiling, but most dining tables are not placed in the middle of a room. Achille Castiglioni was unhappy because of the cable going from the output to the position where the pendant lamp is fixed to illuminate the table. For this reason he designed the Arco lamp, together with Pier Giacomo CastiglioniOriginal Price: $2,970.00

Asking Price: $1,800.00 o.b.o

Welcome to Revision Interiors Tel: 604 377 5409

All items shown below are for sale at discounted prices (as shown in Canadian dollars).

Revision Interiors is an online modern furniture store that I started in 2005. I love modern furniture and want to share the beauty of it with as many people who care for it as much as I do.

A bit about me? I have worked in one of Vancouver’s premiere design showrooms, Inform Interiors, for the past 8 years after graduating from Emily Carr’s Industrial Design program. I have learned a great deal on how to buy, sell and recognize original modern furniture. Unfortunately, there are a great deal of ‘knock-offs” out there and we can’t be too careful if we wish to buy originals. Why buy fakes when you can have the real deal?

Sometimes, the things we love in life may be a little out of our grasp financially. Revision Interiors offers to assist you with acquiring these coveted pieces of modern furniture, at a price that may be more realistic. That is, as long as you don’t mind it being previously loved!

If you have a piece of modern furniture that needs a new home, then I’d love to hear from you.

I will endeavor to update this site as soon as I get new listings. A new website is also in the works.
